As an IT professional at Murphy Company, a mechanical contractor headquartered in St. Louis, I am constantly reviewing software to help us improve our processes and procedures. When we evaluate software price, support and flexibility are key issues.
We have been working with Harrison Publishing House since 1988. HPH has been reasonable with their annual maintenance fees, given us great support in a timely manner and been very flexible to provide the information we need from their databases.
Early on we used to get floppy diskettes in the mail once a month to update our pricing and had to be selective in our updating process. Now by using e-Office through the Internet we can maintain our pricing and labor units through the Internet and electronically download the information. We have full access to their entire database through e-Office. It is an easy user interface allowing quick lookups of items by filtering through any manufacturer and price comparisons between manufacturers. Anytime prices are updated in e-Office we are automatically notified by email. In addition to the features already mentioned we can look up the current manufacturer’s price sheets, maintain company multipliers by geographical location and allow employees access to HPH’s pricing through e-Office.
